Accessibility for Seniors: A CBRM Election Issue

Seniors Deserve Accessible Communities. Accessibility for seniors is often a CBRM election talking point but after the election ends, commitments wane. I have the skills and knowledge needed to move from talking to action. There are grant programs from Provincial and Federal governments to support this. I secured $10,000 for CBRM through the Enabling Accessibility Fund Youth Innovation Component in 2023. I could have done more with Council support.

Transcript: We need accessible communities for our seniors. It's not right that the people who worked in our coal mines and steel plant and ruined their bodies for the Nova Scotian economy aren't supported to live well in their homes and in their communities. I want to change that. I have the knowledge and the experience in disability services and accessibility in order to do this. I know the grant programs very well. There are several that CBRM missed out on and I will make sure we don't miss out on those big opportunities again for accessibility improvements for our communities. Because our citizens deserve it.
